Operation Hope Vista -  Winter Shelter  E/S  0 1 0  0  0  Limited to North County families with children, with priority given to Vista families. Generally, children should be under age 18 years, but exceptions may be made. Minor parents with children are accepted.   Shelter is generally open from 12/01/09 to 3/15/10.

Clients must be able to provide basic self-care and function appropriately in an independent living situation.  Referral from agency is required. Families are attended by the Travelers Aid  Society's shelter placement program in the lobby of the Joan Kroc Center at 10:00 am at a first-come, first-served basis.  Shelter for families only. No single men or women. Referrals through social service agencies.
Free vet services for dogs&cats the 3rd Sunday of every month at the village.

Clients must be able to provide basic self-care and function appropriately in an independent living situation.  Referral from 2-1-1 are made through Travelers Aid Society's Shelter Placement program located in the lobby of the Joan Kroc Center. Single females may line up outside of the Joan Kroc Center at 7:00 am, Monday through Friday. Single males line up at 8:00 am at the Neil Good Day Center. Under this system, clients are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of clients selected is based on bed availability. Clients who sign in first and/or who have signed in continually for at least 3 days have priority. Agencies can call 619-233-8500, ext 1382, at 10:00 am, Monday through Friday, to refer clients to possible shelter.  * 8 Week wait list for single males

Homeless mentally ill must be referred from County Mental Health and must be able to show a diagnosis of mental illness (doctor's note) and show that they are on medication. No walk-ins allowed. Intake is on a first-come, first-served basis; will hold bed for 2 hours. No reservations. A face-to-face interview at the shelter is required before final acceptance.  Drug and Alcohol screening may be requested.   Areas Served: All Areas
